Connect once
Sign in with OAuth, or use an API key for scripts. The agent can only do what your role allows. 2. ******02
Pick a site
List accounts returns every site you can access. Each call names the site it works on. 3. ******03
Read, then write a draft
Content tools write to drafts, on live or on a staging copy. Nothing public changes yet. 4. ******04
Publish when asked
Publishing is its own tool call. Destructive tools are marked so clients ask you first.

Setup
Connect in under a minute.
Same URL for every client. Full guides are in the docs.
ClaudeChatGPTClaude CodeOther clientsAPI key
- In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors, click +, choose Browse connectors, and search for "BrightSite".
- Click Connect, then sign in to BrightSite and approve the connection.
- In a chat, click + > Connectors and turn BrightSite on.
Can't use the directory? Add a custom connector with https://onbrightsite.com/api/mcp as the address.
- In ChatGPT, open your settings and find the apps and connectors section.
- Search for BrightSite and confirm when ChatGPT asks whether to connect.
- Sign in to BrightSite and approve the connection.
Or open the BrightSite app for ChatGPT directly.
Signed in to Claude Code with claude.ai? Connectors you added there show up automatically. Otherwise, run:
claude mcp add --transport http brightsite https://onbrightsite.com/api/mcp --scope userCopyThen run /mcp in Claude Code, choose BrightSite, and sign in through your browser.
Open your client's MCP settings and add this server. Most desktop and CLI clients take this JSON shape; Codex uses the same fields in its config.toml. Restart the client after saving.
{"mcpServers": {"brightsite": {"url": "https://onbrightsite.com/api/mcp", "headers": {"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"}}}}CopyIf your client offers browser sign-in, leave out the key and sign in instead.
For scripts and tools without a browser. Create a key in BrightSite under User Settings > Security > API keys. It is shown once, so copy it right away. Then send it as a header:
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEYCopyA key belongs to you, not one site, so it reaches every organization you belong to.
Built-in prompts
Four jobs, ready to run.
Clients that support MCP prompts show these as slash commands.

Questions
About MCP.
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to tools and data. Any MCP client can use the BrightSite server with the same URL.
Which clients work?
Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, and any other client that supports MCP over HTTP.
How does authentication work?
Clients sign in with OAuth and PKCE, with dynamic client registration, so there's no key to paste. For scripts, use a personal API key as a bearer token. Keys can be revoked at any time.
What can an agent change?
The same things the person who connected it can, based on their role in each site. Content edits are saved as drafts until a publish tool runs.
Is it included in my plan?
Yes. The MCP server is included on every plan.
